What is this "predicting" business anyway? Well, we're in the mists of waiting for Half-Blood Prince to be released on July 16th, 2005, but we don't know of what's to come in future books. Thus, I have made this site in order to share my theories of what MAY happen (by the means of having to read the book, watch interviews, and figure out clues).

Felix Felicis: Is he the Half-Blood Prince?

“He looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp.”

These descriptions above are the words used to describe a character in Half-Blood Prince. Could it be the Prince himself (In other words, Felix Felicis)? Here’s the basic principals of his name:

FELIX
Gender: Masculine
Usage: English, German, Romanian, Ancient Roman, Biblical
Pronounced: FEE-liks

From a Roman cognomen meaning "lucky, successful" in Latin. This was the name of many early saints and four popes. Another notable bearer was the 19th-century German composer Felix Mendelsohnn. [From behindthename.com]

Might there be a connection to the sphinx in Goblet of Fire? Here’s the riddle from the third task (GF ch.31):

“First think of the person who lives in disguise,
Who deals in secrets and tells naught but lies.
Next tell me what's the last thing to mend,
The middle of middle and end of the end.
And finally give me the sound often heard
When searching for a hard-to-find word.
Now string them together, and answer me this:
Which creature would you be unwilling to kiss?”
The riddle doesn’t necessary lead us to believe that he is the prince, but the description does correspond with the definitions of a sphinx:

an inscrutable person who keeps his thoughts and intentions secret

one of a number of large stone statues with the body of a lion and the head of a man that were built by the ancient Egyptians

In conclusion to all this, the “Prince” status comes from the two princes listed below:

Felix Léopold Marie Guillaume, Luxembourg (and no, this isn‘t a joke toward Jeff Guillaume, the webmaster at HPANA, it‘s true!)

Felix Felixovich Yussupov, Russia

So you put the description that J.K. Rowling wrote, the name “Felix”, the sphinx, and the princes mentioned, you get the Half-Blood Prince.

Chapter 6: Draco’s Detour

So we’ve all heard that the sixth chapter of Half-Blood Prince is to be “Draco’s Detour”, but the question is, what’s it all about?

So we go back in Order of the Phoenix, the Ministry of Magic has probably found out that Lucius is a death eater, and because of this, Cornelius Fudge has probably fled because of this discovery. Will Lucius be put into Azkaban? Or will he help in luring Harry back to Voldemort using his own son, Draco?

1. As in the past, Draco had gotten a detention with Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the Sorcerer’s/Philosopher’s Stone, could this be repeated and once again lead them into entering the Forbidden Forest? If they are required to help find an object or beast, they are bound to take awhile. Draco will then urge Harry to take a shortcut which he knows of and there will be Voldemort in full action once again. Once Dumbledore gets word of it, he will then come to rescue Harry and sacrifice his life, and as we all know that powerful curses can leave traces of power, Voldemort will become stronger and be a threat to the wizarding world.

2. As Harry now has the Marauder's Map, he can see where everyone goes. He may then notice that Draco has gone to a suspicious part of Hogwarts. Because of the kind of teenager Harry is, he’ll be curious to find out what Draco is up to and go up to that part of Hogwarts one night and Voldemort could catch a look of him and try to defeat him.

To think that the Hogwarts grounds are safe is an understatement – Wouldn’t Dumbledore have stopped the incident with Quirrel and fake Moody before it had started? Most of the Dark Lord’s attacks have taken place at the surroundings at Hogwarts. It would be easy to trick students into becoming death eaters and revolting against Harry. To think about what could have made Percy go mad at the start of Phoenix could explain why the Minister of Magic had fled. Could he be behind it all – Did Voldemort trick him too?
